Eighth Tirthankar Lord Chandraprabhu Swami is a holy shrine adorned with four Kalyanaks. Since this holy pilgrimage is situated on the banks of the Ganges, every particle of this place is holy. Chandraprabh ji was born in this holy city of Kashi district in Chandrapuri on the Krishna Paksha Dwadashi of Paush month in Anuradha Nakshatra. His parents were Raja Mahasen and Lakshmana Devi. The color of his body was white and the sign was the moon.
Like other Tirthankaras, Chandraprabh ji also performed the duty of the king before becoming a Tirthankara. While running the empire, Chandraprabh ji's attention remained fixed on achieving his goal i.e. salvation. On being eligible for a son, he renounced the throne and resolved to Pravajya.
By donating rain for one year, Chandraprabh ji accepted Pravjya on Paush Krishna Trayodashi. Within a short span of three months, he attained Kevalgyan on the day of Falgun Krishna Saptami.
Bhadrapada Krishna Saptami Lord attained salvation on the summit of Sammed.
