At some point of time, the Anjaneri pilgrimage area, known as the mother of Shri Hanumanji, who has attained immense power and ability, is today saving the history of Jain culture in a dilapidated state by losing its splendor and luxury.
In earlier times Jains lived in large numbers in and around Anjaneri village. Here even today the heritage of Digambar Jains is given. Jain temples and caves are standing in dilapidated condition. In this one temple, there is a culture inscription of the year AD 1142 (Shake 1063), in which the minister of Unchandra king from the Yadav period used to donate for Anjaneri Jain temple considering his business as a duty.
With this donation the temples have been renovated.
In the year 1708, when the Maratha Peshwa's empire was established at Anjaneri, efforts were made to restore the temples. This has also been confirmed by the Archaeological Survey of India.
This pilgrimage area is known as Anjaneri or Anjanagiri by the name of Anjani, the mother of Anjaniputra Shri Hanuman, the mother of infinite strength and Atul Baldhari Anjani. Maharashtra government is going to develop this area as a tourist area and hill station and work has been started in this direction. Here the construction of a new temple and installation of idols have been done.
