स्वाध्याय मन्दिर, सोनगढ़ (भावनगर)
Jai Jinendra friends,
In today's prayer, let us move to a place called Songadh under Bhavnagar district of Saurashtra in the state of Gujarat. It is 8 km from Sehore city and 28 km from Bhavnagar city.
There are eight temples in the temple complex. Swadhyay Mandir or Study Temple, built in 1937 is the first temple in the temple complex. The temple is a white marble structure in which the Gathas of Pujya Acharya Kundkund's Samaysar are engraved on the walls, which are made on gold leaf. The first saga of this great book #Samaysar ji has been written with precious gems etc.
Bhagavad Kundakundacharya's Samaysar, Niyamasar, Pravachansar, Panchastikaya and Ashtapahud texts have been engraved on 488 marble slabs about 1.25 meter long and about 1.5 meter wide. em>
Here is a samavasarana in the form of the divine preaching hall of the present Simandhar Swami Tirthankar based on the description of Mahavideh in Jinendra Dharmasabha. The temple has murals with depictions of the knowledge of the real principle.
Songadh has a huge idol of Lord Bahubali which was installed in the year 2010. Its height is 41 feet and width is 14 feet.
The initial plan of Gomateshwar Bahubali idol was 51 feet but transportation of such a huge idol was not possible. The idol is of special granite. This stone was searched for two years which was finally found at a place called Koira in Karnataka. A team of 10 people led by national award-winning architect Ashok Gudigar built it with 15 months of hard work. Its cost was Rs 1 crore.
A special Volvo vehicle of 150 wheels was made to bring this 400 tonne idol to Songadh. With the special permission of the Government of India, it reached Songadh in 45 days after traveling 20 kilometers in a day. It was welcomed by millions of people wherever it passed on its way. After some 1000 years, the devotees of Gurudev Kahan in India have built such a huge idol. It is visible from a distance of 15 kms till Palitana after being established on a high hill.
Here Simandhar Swami Digambar Jain Temple, Samvasaran Temple, Swadhyay Temple and huge Manastambh are also worth visiting. Pujya Kanji Swami spent about 40 years in Songadh. And propagated Digambar Jainism.
