Janakal village is a famous Atishaya Kshetra located in Hosadurga Taluk of Chitradurga district.  1008 Sri Neminatha Swami and Jaganmatepadmavati Devi's residence is believed to be around 800 years old. 

Janakallu Kshetra had a large number of Jain residences in those days, and it is said that Jain monks used to meditate on the rocks here.   That is why this place is called 'Jain Stone'. It is said to be named.  Even now you can see the image of Jain yatis and scripts carved on the rock.  From this it can be said that Jainism was very prevalent in this region. 

The idol of Goddess Padmavati in Basadi here is famous.  Here in the morning the goddess is worshiped in the pure lap and prasadam is asked for.    There is a belief among the devotees that the devotees' desires will surely be fulfilled by the boon offered by the Goddess. 

Janakal village is about 210 km from Bangalore.  There are many ways to reach here from Bangalore

Tumkur-KB Cross - Chikkanayakanahalli via Hosadurga then Janakal

Tumkur-Hiriyur-VV Sagar Cross - Hosadurga- Janakal

People coming from other towns can reach Janakal via Chitradurga or Hosadurga route.

There is a system of government and private buses from Hosadurga and Chitradurga to Janakalli. There is a system of autorickshaws from Hosdurg to Janakalli.  Arrangements have been made by the Trust to stay near Janakal Basadi for the devotees from other towns.  Devotees who want to stay can contact these numbers of the trust 2 days in advance.

ಜಾನಕಲ್ ಗ್ರಾಮವು ಚಿತ್ರದುರ್ಗ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ ಹೊಸದುರ್ಗ ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಸುಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಅತಿಶಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ.  1008 ಶ್ರೀ ನೇಮಿನಾಥ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಹಾಗು ಜಗನ್ಮಾತೆಪದ್ಮಾವತಿ ದೇವಿ ನೆಲಸಿರುವ ಈ ಬಸದಿ ಸುಮಾರು 800 ವರ್ಷ ಪುರಾತನವಾದುದ್ದು ಎಂದು ಪ್ರತೀತಿ ಇದೆ. 

ಜಾನಕಲ್ಲು ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವು ಅಂದಿನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹು ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯ ಜೈನ ವಸತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದು, ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಬಂಡೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಜೈನ ಸನ್ಯಾಸಿಗಳು ಧ್ಯಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಕೂರುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆನ್ನಲಾಗಿದೆ.   ಆದ್ದರಿಂದಲೇ ಈ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ 'ಜೈನ ಕಲ್ಲು' ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿತ್ತೆನ್ನಲಾಗಿದೆ.  ಈಗಲೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಬಂಡೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೊರೆದ ಜೈನ ಯತಿಗಳ ಚಿತ್ರ ಹಾಗು ಲಿಪಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಣಬಹುದು.  ಇದರಿಂದಲೂ ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಜೈನ ಧರ್ಮ ಬಹು ಪ್ರತೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದಿತೆಂದು ಹೇಳಬಹುದು. 

ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಬಸದಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪದ್ಮಾವತಿ ದೇವಿಯ ಅತಿಶಯ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧವಾದುದು.  ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಶುದ್ಧ ಮಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವಿ ಪೂಜೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಮನಃ ಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಸಾದ ಕೇಳಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.    ದೇವಿ ಮನ ಒಲಿದು ನೀಡಿದ ವರ ಪ್ರಸಾದದಿಂದ ಭಕ್ತರ ಮನೋಕಾಮನೆ ಖಂಡಿತ ನೆರವೇರುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಭಕ್ತಾದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೆ. 

ಜಾನಕಲ್ ಗ್ರಾಮವು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 210 ಕಿಮಿ ದೂರವಿದೆ.  ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಿಂದ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ತಲುಪಲು ಇರುವ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳು ಹಲವು -
